BENTON — And then there were two.
At the end of the second night of play in the Benton Invitational Tournament only two teams remained unbeaten in tournament play. The Benton Rangers ran roughshod over Hamilton County 66-28 on Wednesday to advance to 2-0 in the BIT.

The Rangers proved impossible to guard as three different players wound up in double digits. Kruz Hayes led the Rangers in scoring with 13 points, followed by Derek Oxford and Marc Torres, who both contributed 10 points to the cause. Austin Wills contributed nine points.

Earlier in the evening the Pinckneyville Panthers pummeled the Meridian Bobcats 51-28 to win their second game of the tournament as well. The loss pushed the Bobcats back to 1-1 in the Invitational. Clayton Hougland led the Panthers offensively with 17 points in the game, including four from downtown.

In the other game of the night the Carlyle Indians, fresh off that grueling double overtime defeat Monday, bested the Sesser Red Devils. The loss pushed back the Red Devils to 0-2 in the tournament. The leading scorer for the Indians in their victorious performance was Maverick Taylor, with 15 points.
