WEST CITY — Fans of the popular television music show, American Idol, will have an opportunity to see one of the show's finalists Monday during a local appearance.
Amelia Eisenhauer, a 15-year-old DuQuoin native who now resides in Nashville, Tenn., will be at Aaron's in West City from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, following a hometown concert Sunday night in DuQuoin.
The events are being held as fundraisers to raise money so Eisenhauer's family can fly to Hollywood for live shows, beginning Thursday.
Trey Ford, sales manager at the West City Aaron's location, is a big fan of Eisenhauer. The two have performed together in Ford's band, "We've Got It Covered," which also perform in DuQuoin, along with Murphy 500 and Chris Slone.
"We've shared the stage with Thomas Rhett, Justin Moore, Lee Greenwood and Darrell Worley. She's very young and started playing with us when she was 11," Ford said.
Eisenhauer's visit to West City is sponsored by Aaron's and is free to the public.
"Aaron's has given a donation to help the family with transportation expenses. We'll have the popcorn machine going and provide sodas," Ford said. Eisenhauer is expected to sign autographs and possibly perform.
"I just started working at Aaron's and thought it would be a good way to help the Eisenhauer family and get Aaron's out there as a household name," Ford said. He reported that Idol show producers will pay airfare for Amelia and her mother, but no other family members. Ford estimated it will take at least $800 to pay for a one-week visit to Hollywood for other family members.
Eisenhauer and her family moved to Nashville in 2012. She currently fronts her own band family blues/acoustic band, The Eisenhauer Band, alongside her mother, brother and producer Bryan Ward. The band is an ever evolving, unexpected eclectic blend of Delta bluegrass, Motown and acoustic pop and rock.
Eisenhauer advanced to the top 24 of American Idol after a soulful rendition of "Many Rivers to Cross" in front of judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr.
