WEST FRANKFORT -- Clyde Dean Parkhill, 89, died at 12:18 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, in Herrin Hospital.

 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, in Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Pastor Richard Wakefield officiating. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery in Thompsonville. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available and accepted at the funeral home.

Clyde was born May 18, 1927, in Franklin County to Clyde and Madge (McCarty) Parkhill. He married the former Louise Smothers, and they were united in marriage for 68 years.

He was a member of Caldwell Baptist Church in West Frankfort and a member of UMWA for 60 years. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Parkhill; two sons, Mike (Julie) Parkhill and Phillip Parkhill; four sisters, Mary (Charles) Prior, Jackie Stubblefield, Patty Dill and Judy (Byrl) Crawford; brother-in-law, Marvin (Brenda) Smothers; sister-in-law, Delores Myers; four grandchildren, Ben Parkhill, Jennifer (Tommy) Burns, Phillip Parkhill and Gregory Parkhill; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Sam, Ray and Dennis Parkhill; two sisters, Martha Todd and Ruth Crawford; and grandson, Josh Parkhill.
